Brisbane Magistrates Court
Located at 363 George Street in Brisbane''s CBD, the Magistrates Court has several restrictive elements which made construction difficult, including three road frontages and several multiple lift cores for officers of the court, criminals and the general public.
The building is 14 stories high with a gross floor area of 31,650m square metres. The building houses 39 court rooms, administration, prisoner transfer and 25 hearing rooms. Although the building has predominantly precast walls and Condeck permanent floor slab formwork, there was still a large scope for the supply of PERI formwork systems.
PERI was engaged to supply ACS Climbing Systems and formwork to six separate lift cores, an asymmetric fire stair and one entry feature wall which was constructed in charcoal colour controlled concrete. The systems used include ACS-SD, ACS-RP, ACS-RG all with 4.2m Vario formwork panels.

The magistrates court was the first project upon which PERI ACS-SD had been used. The system allowed quick and easy construction of single, double and triple lift cores which were in close proximity to each other, or in the case above, with a tower crane situated between adjacent and diverging triple cores. We were also able to merge adjacent cores, a double and single, part way through construction.
