Darwin LNG Project

Project data

Location: Darwin, Australia

The structure is 92m internal diameter with 600mm thick walls over 35m high, with a 2.3m high corbel at the top increasing the wall thickness to 900mm

Requirements

  • Tight deadlines
  • Very strict guidelines regarding the dimensional accuracy

Customer

Thiess Pty Ltd

Benefit to customer

  • 4.2m high x 6m long curved panels remained on the climbing platforms when lifted to the next level, allowing for limiting crane time requirements when handling the 580 lineal metres of formwork.
  • The full height was achieved in 9 pours with a nominal pour height of 4.2m.

PERI solution

  • Vario wall formwork mounted on CB Climbing Platforms constituted the bulk of the material supplied to this project – approximately 240 tonnes, including almost 12 km of GT24’s and 1.7km of SRZ walers.
  • The pour sequence was divided into 4 equal sized quadrants, with a stressing buttress in each quadrant. Two opposite quadrants were jumped together with the leading pair at least two jumps ahead at all times.
