Easy Access Station Upgrade Pendle Hill

The client John Holland has been awarded a contract worth more than $50m by Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) to upgrade train stations at Pendle Hill, Wentworthville, Croydon and Blacktown in Sydney.

  •  Providing a safety screen solution at Pendle Hill station to allow for a new platform structure to be built over a live metro railway line

Requirements

  • Pre-assembly of screens, platforms & trusses to install during track shutdown
  • Adequate clearance from live railway catenary lines

  • All material pre-assembled in PERI yard and delivered to site for installation

PERI solution

  • Provide a safety screen solution at Pendle Hill station to allow for a new platform structure to be built over a live metro railway line
  • Prefabrication of modular sections to be installed in segments over three separate shutdown weekends
  • Supplying 7.5m high protection screens in sections up to 13m long 
  • Supply and fix a plywood hoarding to the screens 2.4m high
  • Support safety screens by under-slinging from the pre-cast planks
  • Three levels of working platforms were provided 0.75m wide
