RG Tanna Coal Terminal Expansion

Location: Gladstone, Australia

The Port of Gladstone is the world’s fourth largest coal exporting terminal. To meet an ever increasing demandfor coal the Central Queensland Ports Authority to undertake a $230 million of the RG Tanna Coal Terminal.

Key features of the project included; new shipping birth & mobile gantry ship loader; triplication of Queensland Rail's existing rail loop; new dump station for coal receival; new incoming & outgoing coal conveyers and two additional coal stockpiles.

  • Wall's thickness and height: 800 mm and 7.1 m

 

Requirements

  • Construction the walls of three reclaim chambers along the new conveyor
  • Chamber No.1 – Internally, 10.5m long x 8.0m wide. Walls 750mm thick and 4.9m high
    Chamber No.2 – Internally, 10.5m long x 8.0m wide. Walls 750mm thick and 6.5m high
    Chamber No.3 – Internally, 14.5m long x 8.0m wide. Walls 800mm thick and 7.1m high
  • Three sides of a rectangular chamber, with single sided walls over 7.0m high which
    needed to be poured in one hit

PERI solution

  • RCS rails were used vertically against the TRIO panels (approx 400m2) and spanned across the 8.0m internal distance with HD200 props allowing the client to pour all of the single sided walls of Chamber No.3 in one operation.
  • Chamber No.3 was poured first, then the equipment were re-used for Chamber No.2 and finally
    for Chamber No.1
